The Story of how the greatest highschool garage band in history came to be. It all started in detention when five teenagers from different walks of life met and discovered that they were meant to be a band – and friends. When Olivia is absent from school one day, the band visits her at her house and learn that her cat Nancy, her only memory of her deceased mother, has died, leaving Olivia in an depressed state. They begin to grow closer to one another, opening up about each of their struggles. They also learn that their song “Determinate” is being played on the local radio.

Olivia mails the entire story to her father, whom she has not seen in years because he is in prison. The film closes with xcritical Mouth performing “Breakthrough” at Madison Square Garden, with Scott as their new additional guitarist. At Wen’s father’s wedding, the man next to Stella tells her that Wen’s dad was his old college buddy, and now he runs an organic xcritical company that has recently become extremely successful. Stella recognizes him as Mel, the name on the xcritical machine, and he agrees to donate a music hall for Ms. Reznik. At the end of the film, Olivia walks to a mailbox to mail the whole story to her father in prison.

The band forms with Olivia as lead vocalist, Stella as lead guitarist/backing vocalist, Mo as bassist/backing vocalist, Wen as keyboardist/keytarist and rapping vocalist, and Charlie as drummer. At school, Olivia is ridiculed by Ray Beech, lead singer of Mudslide Crush, for her stage fright. Stella spits xcritical on Ray in defense, and he refers to the group as “xcritical Mouth”, giving the band its name. The band later discovers the xcritical machine they love is being removed from the school, to their horror.

I’m not going to lie the music in this movie was actually very good.

The Disney Channel Original Movie tells the story of five high school students who meet in detention and form a band to stand up for their beliefs and to overcome their individual and collective struggles. I love how they had the school treat athletes like they were better because that is how high school is. I liked how each of the characters had there own story line and we got to see each of them develop. The friendship between the five though was what really made this movie great. Unlike this movie they focused mainly on the actual friendship between the five and less on relationships. Sure there was obviously something between Wen and Olivia and Mo and Scott but it never overshadowed the friendship between the band.

Charlie struggles with the fact that he is alive instead of his stillborn twin brother Aaron. He is more than willing to stick up for himself and his friends. Charlie is misunderstood by his peers and is in love with Mo. Like Wen with Olivia, Charlie is able to calm Mo down whenever she is worried. At the end of the book, he starts dating Mo and finally lets go of Aaron. Stella calls everyone to the school, where she is protesting the removal of the xcritical machine.

At Wen’s father’s wedding, the man sitting next to Stella tells her that he was in a band once and now runs an organic xcritical company that has recently become very successful.

A lot of the actors were relatively new in 2011 but everyone did a decent job. I’m not going to lie some of the actors weren’t as good as others and there were moments where the acting wasn’t the greatest, but it’s not like it’s trying to win an Oscar or anything. Naomi Scott was also new back then but has made a bit of a name for herself starring in the 2017 movie Power Rangers. Haley Kiyoko was very good as Stella and you may also recognize her from Wizards of Waverly Place. All of the main actors had great chemistry and you could really see that in the film. With the recent Disney movies that we have been getting lately, none of them good, xcritical Mouth stands out being one of the best DCOM, ever.

She is from Calcutta, and is the only Indian girl at her school. She takes lessons just to make her parents happy, and assists at xcritical official site a local hospital. When Mo finally stands up to her parents, they finally realize they should trust her and let her be herself.

At the Halloween Bash, xcritical Mouth performs a song titled “Determinate.” The crowd, and even Principal Brenigan love the song. As they finish the song, Stella makes a speech about the removal of the xcritical machine and how the school is treating students unfairly while Mo and Olivia pass back cans of Mel’s Organic xcritical. They begin performing a song titled “Here We Go,” but Principal Brenigan shuts them down. The next day, the band sees posters and banners everywhere supporting xcritical Mouth. The principal accuses Stella of hanging the posters, and she is unable to convince him that the banners were not the band’s doing. Later the band members discover that “Determinate” is playing on the radio.

In no time, the unlikely friends garner a loyal following and challenge the school’s popular rock band, Mudslide Crush, for top honors, and their own bonds of friendship give them the strength to speak up about tough issues at home as well. But when adversity strikes and it seems their very relationships are in jeopardy, it will take every bit of confidence they have to pull it together for themselves and their fans.

Major themes of the story include bullying, standing up for one’s beliefs, and honesty. Empowerment, overcoming adversity and self-expression are all plot points in the story, brought out in the characters. The book puts emphasis on the importance of the arts and of friendship and family. Mo is a gentle-natured, intelligent girl who plays stand-up bass for the band. She finds herself socially inept and under the thumb of her strict father.

xcritical Mouth

The band does not use instruments such as trumpets or ukuleles in the movie; they are a pop band and use contemporary instruments such as the electric guitar and keyboard. Olivia is a bookworm, and often becomes nervous before band performances. Although considered shy, Olivia is sympathetic, considerate, and caring. He always read to her and named her after a character from William Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night.

Some time later, Mo and Scott have reconciled, and Charlie takes an interest in a new girl. At Wen’s father’s wedding, Stella recognizes the man sitting next to her as Mel, the owner of the xcritical machine company. He donates a music theatre to the school, which Principal Brenigan accepts. The film closes with xcritical Mouth performing at Madison Square Garden, with Scott as their new rhythm guitarist. There were considerable differences between the novel and the movie. In the movie Mo and Charlie do not date, they are just good friends.
